St. George Island, FL

We've arrived in St. George! The trip from Cordelle, Georgia to St. George took about 4 hours. The route took us along the ocean at times and was very scenic. Crossing a 4 mile bridge, we came into tiny St. George. Our first stop was at the Bucaneer Inn, to complete the reservation we made for my Dad. Then on down the road about another 4 miles, we arrived at the beach house and were warmly greeted by Tina and her Mom and grandparents.

About 2 hours later, Dad arrived for his stay at the Bucaneer and Keith, Susana and Lorelei arrived at their hotel in a town across the bridge from here. They will move to Dad's hotel tomorrow.

Jeryl, Michael, Amber and I had fun walking on the beach in the evening while Dad stayed back at the beach house, talking to Tina's grandfather. Dad found he and Chuck had much in common, both having served in the U.S. Airforce and both born in the same year. They exchanged some interesting military stories while hanging out on the deck overlooking the ocean.

Tina, her Mom Billie and Billie's Mom have been busy as bees getting the house ready for the reception. I don't think they have stopped much to catch their breath and the house is slowly beginning to take shape. The entire upstairs floor is being used for the reception area. Decks run around the entire house for 2 floors and tables will be set outside and in for the guests.

More to follow tomorrow....................

On the Road to FL

Hi everyone. Jeryl and I have stopped for the night in Cordelle, Georgia at a KOA. We got a cabin for $28. You can't beat that! (Well, ok, if you paid $27, $26, .... then you would beat it....) We drove about 10 hours today, through much rain and heavy traffic at times. We stopped at Ross twice, one of our favorite discount stores, and bought some shoes. That's the main thing we always buy at a Ross is their shoes. They have some great prices.

We had fun today keeping up with Dad, Andrew, Michael, Amber, Keith and Susana, all were on the road like us, but coming from different directions. All of us had to deal with rain, traffic and road construction. It was fun, fun, fun going through Atlanta....NOT! Even on a Sunday it was pretty busy there.

Kristy and family made it to Panama City Saturday and Andrew, Michael, and Amber are staying there tonight. Tomorrow we all head to St. George Island. Dad included. Some of us are staying at a condo near where the beach wedding will be held and some are staying at a hotel on the beach, the Bucaneer Inn.

OK troops, it's getting late here and my eyes are heavy so I bid all goodnight and wish sweet dreams for all.
